CORK & FORK

Thirteen wine club members showed they weren’t superstitious when they attended the Friday the 13th wine tasting at the Cork & Fork Fine Wines & Foods in Gainesville. The theme of the evening was New World Wines and they were superb with selections from Australia, Argentina and California.

Cork & Fork owners Anna & Dominique made this a special event for the members, answering questions about the different wines and serving an exquisite array of light fare.

Of course, after the tasting, attendees were able to purchase some of the wines that especially appealed to them. It was a great evening, Friday the 13th notwithstanding.

LA GRANGE

In early December, 20 members were provided an excellent tour of The Winery at La Grange, the first and only winery  in Prince William County. Recently opened to the public, La Grange boasts a 1790s manor house and a new vineyard with over 5,000 vines.

This tour included a wine tasting as members strolled around the grounds. The site tour continued with more wine and we then relaxed on the porch with more wine and food.
